watching tv while i knit when a movie with marlene dietrich comes on called the scarlet empress. a movie about catherine the great. catherine stages a coup to take the russian throne from her husband peter. she dresses up and rides with the guards. i couldnt help but notice her guard costume looked a little familiar. this movie was made in 1934. wizard of oz was made in 1939 and once i checked it out the witches guards also called winkies are dressed hollywood style russian guard. does this make the wicked witch catherine the great?
